The Celtic Wheel (Print)

This is a collaboration between myself, Kate Bean Photography and Alice Halliday Couture in which I asked Kate and Alice to hang a white dress from a tree during the lockdown in the winter.

I added the wheel of the Celtic Calendar because it gives me a sense of peace and earthiness.

I know that I am happy when I

a) walk

b) sleep well

c) acknowledge the mysteries

I am at my best when I sit at the table with all the things. Death, mistakes, longing, sadness, grief. When I don’t try to run away from these things in my mind, my roots can take hold in this dark, heavy, nutritious mud. And then I can feel the sun on my face.

But it takes a certain energy not to run away in your head. It’s a slower way of operating because your feet are in the earth. And also I am making up my beliefs about life and death without a map because I have no religion.

So I am writing my own map and listening out for anything which sounds true to me. Listening most intently to the ideas brought forward by quiet people and gentle ways. And so the wheel of the Celtic Year, with its basis in nature and the movement of the sun gives me that sense of the cycle continuing. The life - death - life- cycle and allows me not to freeze in fear of endings.
